This example was modified, probably, after the introduction of .303 MkVII ammunition, with a MLMR MkII platform and the removal of the magazine link ring. The cover shows Lt.Col A.J.Deane-Drummond DSO MC, the SAS commanding officer, inspecting members of a squadron of 22 SAS at Malvern alongside Gen.Sir Francis Festing. Post 1881 gilded brass, multi-piece, crowned eight point star with wreathed circlet enclosing a separate silver Tiger surmounted by ' Hindoostan ', three part scroll inscribed 'The Leicestershire Regiment', three lugs to the rear. Superb condition with bright gilt and deeply patinated silver with faded backing. Replaced locking pins to reverse.
