THIRD REICH OFFICERS MARBLE DESK SET. FLAK 88 SHELL.
I have had several desk sets before but not one quite like this. Commercially made I imagine, consists of the base section of a 88mm Flak shell case mounted between 2 inert large cannon rounds, look like 22mm. Pre-War quality with a rich wool body with a Gaunt, London marked sterling silver cap badge. A coated silk lining with a Bond St label to interior labelled size 7 1/4 with plush sweatband. An RZM Marked BDM Achievement badge - In silver grade and maker marked M1/15, indicating production by Ferdinand Hoffstätter of Bonn. Also marked with a letter ' B ' to the reverse. The silver BDM awards are very much scarcer than their equivalents in bronze. Excellent, clean condition with some light wear to finish. read more
