WW2 RAF ' Hopkinson ' Release Knife.
Carried by fire and crash crew these knives were designed specifically for cutting through harness and parachute shrouds whilst affording protection, by means of the rounded ends, to trapped aircrew. An RZM Marked BDM Achievement badge - In silver grade and maker marked M1/15, indicating production by Ferdinand Hoffstätter of Bonn. Also marked with a letter ' B ' to the reverse.
