Sturdy linen valise bag with bone button closures marked to an officer of the 88th Regt. the Connaught Rangers. Clearly marked in paint to an ' H.Ernst. Esqr. 88th Regt. '. Provisional research indicates a Henry Ernst who served as a Lieutenant in the 88th in 1851 and saw service in Canada. Excellent, clean condition.
