An example of the uncommon S1914 ( Gottscho ) pattern bayonet. Often described as machine gunners' bayonets there is no evidence to support this. Designed by Dr.Lucian Gottscho as infantry bayonets for the Bavarian and Wurttemberg armies there is evidence of a small production run of a maximum of 27,000 units including saw back versions making this a scarce bayonet.
