Although unmarked this example displays the qualities indicating probable manufacture by Foerster & Barth, Pforzheim. Standard zinc dog tag as issued to German forces marked ' FL.H.Kdtr.L Giessen No.1657 ' and to the reverse ' AB . BLUT GR.'. This would indicate issue to a member of the Luftwaffe staff at Giessen airfield, a base for bombers North of Frankfurt. This alloy, copper and brass example has a good deal of it's original finish complete with green band markings indicating 4 - 6 hours delay.
