Group of four to 2984651 Pvt. John Lamont Spiers Penman of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders KIA 01/08/1943 and buried in Catania War Cemetry, Sicily. Grouping indicates service in Africa with the award of the 1st Army Bar to the Africa Star. An individually wrapped razor blade that has been magnetized so that when suspended by a thread in a glass of water it would act as a compass for escape and evasion purposes. Japanese yosegaki hinomaru or good luck flag. Approx 83 x 68cms printed on silk with two leather reinforced corners and cotton ties. This example is covered in a profusion of characters with prominent larger characters forming the exhortation ' Ki Buun Chokyu ' translating as ' I pray that your military fortunes are long lasting.'

Comprising a set of insignia that was souvenired by a Military Police officer during his service in Italy. Includes shoulder boards, cap insignia for both the peaked cap and bustina, rank devices for the sleeve, sword knot and brocade cross belt strap. WW1 British ' Remedy for Poisonous Gas '.
One of the numerous products which were produced during WW1 to sell to families, who would then post to loved ones serving at the front line. This small tin retains the original paper label to the lid. Complete with two of the linen wrapped capsules which were intended to be crushed and inhaled in the event of gas poisoning. Good overall condition with some rust bleed to label.
