Coloured F.S cap worn by officers of the 103rd Mahratta Light Infantry or more accurately 1st Battalion 5th Mahratta Light Infantry. Wool bodied cap with bullion badge and blackened regimental buttons with a polished cotton lining. No evidence of tailor's details or size, but would be approx. size 7. In good clean condition with one 2.5mm approx hole above the crown.  read more

1914/15 extemporised grenade so-called Battye or Bethune bomb. This cast iron, ammonal filled grenade was designed by Capt.B.C.Battye RE and manufactured at the First Army Workshops. Rough cast and grooved on the surface to aid fragmentation they were closed with a wooden plug and detonated by a short length of safety fuze and a Nobel igniter.
