WW2 Original Copy 488 Squadron Combat Report.

Original second copy combat report retained by pilot for a Mosquito night fighter operation over Normandy on the night of 22/23 June 1944. Flying a Mosquito XIII of 488 Sqn. P/O.O.J.McCabe ( NZ ) accompanied by his navigator W/O.H.O.Watkins intercepted a Ju188 east of Bayeux which was then subsequently shot down crashing onto the beach. THIRD REICH ‘ART DECO’ STYLE SILVER RUNNING PRIZE CUP/VASE.

This is a wonderful silver plated ‘art deco’ style vase/award made by the famous WMF company (who still exist today). It stands about 8” tall and has a pleasing wavy design around the middle. The rim is jeweller engraved with the award details in German. It reads ‘Winner 1500 metres race 1938 Artillary Regt 13’ the inscription is bordered by a small swastika at each end.
