A Kriegsmarine cap tally for the Deutschland-class battleship, Schleswig-Holstein. Laid down in 1895 the ship went on to serve in WW1 being present at Jutland where she received damage. She is probably best known for firing the first shots of World War II when she bombarded the Polish base at Danzig's Westerplatte. Buckle has virtually ALL of the original green paint both front and on the reverse. It marked at one end 41 and the other has the intertwined initials of the maker GB, this is for Gustav Brehmer.
