RAF tissue paper escape map - Abyssinia

Approx. 46 x 46cm. Scale 1 : 2,000,000. Sheet 0 Abyssinia up to the borders of Kenya. Created by Clayton Hutton of MI9 using wood pulp from a Mulberry tree, these maps were incredibly thin and light. As a result these maps were strong, silent to use and could be concealed in much smaller spaces than the equivalent silk map. Arnhem Lift-Diary of a Glider Pilot.

96pgs 1945 'Arnhem Lift, the Diary of a Glider Pilot'. Published anonymously in 1945 by Louis Hagen a glider pilot of Jewish extraction who fought under the nom de guerre Lewis Haig. One of the few pilots who returned in the aftermath of the battle, Hagen's account of the nine day battle went on to become a best seller, this is a 3rd ed. published under wartime conditions. ORIGINAL WW2 U-BOAT BADGE BY f.o.

A very good example of a U-boat pin back award badge. Was once gilded but all this has worn off over the years, just leaving the grey/silver metal base. There are tiny remains of the gilding in crevices, but 99% has gone. Has cast solid swastika and reverse has horizontal pin and hook.
Maker marked ‘f.o.’ for Friedrich Orth. Priced to sell as an ORIGINAL badge.  read more
