Original, 1916 dated Imperial German - C96 Broomhandle Mauser holster. This example is dated 1916 to the reverse with a Dresden makers' details and issue marks ' BAXII16 '. In heavily used condition with a period repair to the cup with the fixing stud to the magazine pouch now missing and a 20mm tear to the cleaning rod retainer, otherwise sound condition. Gold blocked to the exterior of the box with the outline of the award, with a retailer’s name ' Werner Redo Saarlauten 'blocked to the silk upper inner lid. Officially sectioned 1917 dated No.36 MkI. Body marked ' R ' beneath lever indicating probable manufacture by Revo of Tipton with a base plug marked ' E.A.R. ' ? Very much ' out of the woodwork ' find with some corrosion to both lever and ring and the base plug firmly ensconced. Some areas of surface corrosion with 60% of interior red finish.
