Introduced from 1942 the 3rd Pattern F.S. knife was the zenith of FS knives formulating the design and method of production that is still used today. This example looks to have been unissued with even factory sharpened blade still covered in ( now dried ) storage grease. A very nice, period framed pair of WW1 medals, consisting of the WAR and VICTORY medal. Center is framed with the Admiralty certificate for his MENTIONED IN DISPATCHES. Group of four to 2984651 Pvt. John Lamont Spiers Penman of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders KIA 01/08/1943 and buried in Catania War Cemetry, Sicily. Grouping indicates service in Africa with the award of the 1st Army Bar to the Africa Star.
