British WW1 No5. Mk1 Hand Grenade.
WW1 No.5 Mk.I Hand Grenade, known more colloquially as the ' Mills '. Good example, has a 1916 dated brass base plug by ' C.A.V.' - C.A.Vandervell & Co., Acton with brass filler plug and alloy core. Body marked ' 1 V ' with 50%+ remaining of the pink painted filling ring indicating an Ammanol filling.All parts present and fully strippable. Good, overall condition with some pitting to striker.

1942 Kriegsmarine Soldbuch to a Belgian volunteer, Gefr.Heinrich Gortjes. Soldbuch showing b/w photograph to inner cover and shows Gortjes initially joining 1.Marine-Ersatz-Abteilung, and then briefly with M.A.A.621. Most of his service appears to be with M.A.A.632 serving on the Italian coast at Batterie Casa Bianca. Good, used condition which would reward further research. read more
