WAR MERIT CROSS 1st CLASS WITH SWORDS IN CASE.
A decent quality War merit cross 1st class with swords. A military award.The award was graded the same as the Iron Cross: War Merit Cross Second Class, War Merit Cross First Class etc.This one is a little tarnished, but has all of the original silver finish. 1882 ' Wallace Patent ' Entrenching Implement Mk II manufactured by Edw. Lucas & Sons, Sheffield in 1886. On issue from 1882 on a scale of one to every two men, this pattern was short lived and was abolished in 1892 but continued on issue to volunteer units into the early twentieth century.
