This is a very nice variation example of a 2nd Pattn FS type fighting knife with the 9 segment 'BEADED AND RINGED' cast brass grip. Poignant grouping to an 11th Bn AIF casualty. Grouping to 2552 Sgt.Herbert Henry Walton Robinson who was killed sometime between 30/08/16 and 23/08/16 and was subsequently honoured at the Serre Road Cemetery. Originally from Sheffield, Robinson emigrated to Western Australia before service in the AIF.

A classic example of a WW2 Japanese Senninbari with the symbolic ' 1000 stitches ' taking the form of a rising sun, the Japanese Imperial flag, in a central panel of the cotton belt. Belt has horizontal lines of stitching reinforcing, and giving the belt an attractive, quilted appearance.
