Scarce small size WW2 RAF escape and evasion cap/tunic button. Developed by escape and evasion expert Christopher Clayton Hutton at MI9, this looks like a standard brass button by J.R.Gaunt but the back can be unscrewed using a fine left handed thread to reveal a carefully concealed compass. It appeared that this item was originally a double sided banner painted to one side with various characters and temple chop marks. 1940 dated 1919 Patt. belt by the Mills Equipment Company accompanied with the large '37 Patt holster that would accommodate the Colt 1911 .45 Auto. Holster similarly 1940 dated and manufacturer marked indicating manufacture by the Mills Equipment Co. Both items in clean condition with a slight nibble to the reverse of the belt.  read more
