Economy RAF Station wall clock. In largely untouched, unrestored condition with a 35cm white dial with Roman numerals and King's crown RAF crest in a beech ply 44cm frame. Boxed casualty grouping to 5049466 Cpl. George Henry Broster 2nd Bn. North Staffs Regt. Broster was most probably a casualty of Operation Diadem ( 4th Battle of Casino ' where the N.Staffs were trying to break through the Gustav Line into the Liri Valley. Coloured tinplate box originally opened to reveal a stand for a candle and was used whilst in the trenches of the Great War as a combined storage and windbreak. WW2 British slip on formation sign for the 70th Infantry division. Multi-piece construction in khaki drill with ink stamp to reverse inner. 70th Inf. Div were heavily involved in the fighting in North Africa around Tobruk. Withdrawn to India in 1942 the division became part of the Chindits force and officially ceased to exist in November 1943.
