A PROPERLY USED LUFTWAFFE SIDE/OVERSEAS CAP.
Purchased from my trip to America, this is an absolute original Luftwaffe blue wool side cap (overseas cap as Americans call them). The Luftwaffe blue wool has faded with age and use but I think just adds to the total originality. The clothes eagle and roundel are sewn to the front. Been there since new!! Of the three main patterns of German WW1 steel helmets, the M.18 is the scarcest. This example is stamped ' G62 ' and retains much of it's original finish to the exterior shell. Original WW1 British Trench map 57cN.W.3 Bapaume with trenches corrected to 4/07/18. This linen backed map shows German trenches and wire to the N/E of Bapaume which would go onto feature in the Second Battle of Bapaume part of the Allies' Hundred Days Offensive which started in August 1918. Imperial Russian helmet plate of an unknown infantry regiment. Line pattern helmet plate for other ranks with provision to add identifying numerals, now missing. These were often worn in this manner or had numbers fretted out.
