THIRD REICH SIGNALS CABLE LAYING REEL - BACK PACK.

An original and working cable reel back pack for a Wehrmacht signal cable layer. A very dangerous job, as cutting communications was vital to both the Allies and the Germans. These guys who crawled across open spaces, laying the communication cable, were prime targets for snipers etc. This reel back pack is finished in the original green paint, has the original wide leather shoulder straps and the thin cable release strap too. It is maker marked RICH LEPPERT G.m.b.h LIMBACH SA and dated 1937. It also has the Third Reich Waffenampt stamp of a tiny eagle and swastika beside the makers mark. . An interesting piece of original equipment. Perhaps idea for a re-enactor or equipment collector.
