THIRD REICH KRIEGSMARINE SERVICE TIME SOUVENIR ITEMS.
As with many other servicemen, a record of their time served and a way of displaying it was always creative. This is a most interesting pair of items from a kriegsmarine sailor. It consists of an original 'dicky' or colour which was worn as part of the white and blue shirts. He has personalised it by affixing a cap tally, his breast eagle, a rank pip and three of the specialist trade badges worn on their sleeves. These are the larger trade patches worn by Petty Officers.
one for a Bootsmann, one for a Maschinist and one for a Marine artillery man. Accompanying this is a beautifully made little 'pillow'. measuring approx. 5" square. It's all made from the fabric of the cap tally, and features a Kriegsmarine 'bevo' tally in the middle. Diagonally across has been sewn miniature medal ribbon for the War Merit cross, Iron cross second class and the blue long service medal. At the top is a metal epaulette brass insignia for a signalman. A unique set, and an ideal backdrop for a navy collection etc.
