A popular souvenir produced by soldiers that had it's origins in Victorian colonial service, this artistically frayed piece of KD material is inscribed ' A souvenir from German East Africa '. To the reverse the author of this work has inscribed a few lines of doggerel and identified himself as No.8710 Pte.C.Watts RMLI who served in the campaign 1917-1917. Unusual.
