THIRD REICH ‘ART DECO’ STYLE SILVER RUNNING PRIZE CUP/VASE.

This is a wonderful silver plated ‘art deco’ style vase/award made by the famous WMF company (who still exist today). It stands about 8” tall and has a pleasing wavy design around the middle. The rim is jeweller engraved with the award details in German. It reads ‘Winner 1500 metres race 1938 Artillary Regt 13’ the inscription is bordered by a small swastika at each end. Beautifully done and I imagine this was displayed in the Regimental trophy case. It does not say what the race was exactly. Running perhaps? The vase/cup has a high silver content and has therefore toned to a much darker colour over time. If you wished to clean it carefully, it would be up to the purchaser. Nice display item.
