LST428 Service Souvenir Cap.

Khaki drill cap that has the names of various ports and theatres either painted or drawn on the sides and top from South Africa through North Africa to Sicily and eventually Normandy. The D Day entry is prefaced by the entry LST428. This landing ship was a LST-1 Class Tank Landing Ship, laid down, 22 November 1942, at Bethlehem Fairfield Co., Baltimore. Transferred to the United Kingdom and commissioned HM LST-428, 9 February 1943 and subsequently participating in Sicily, Salerno, Anzio and Normandy operations. Unfortunately no name to this theatre made item but an unusual Naval souvenir.
