British Mark I Brodie - US 104th Infantry Regt.
Standard British Mark I Brodie with a shell by Thomas Firth & Sons Ltd of Sheffield indicated by the ' FS ' stamp to the rim. Size 7 liner substantially intact but missing the wool pad and ring with the characteristic split rivet fixing of the chinstrap bails. The owner's number has been snatched to the rim. Retains 45% + of the original khaki painted textured finish with a hand painted, small and subdued insignia of the 104th Infantry Regt. The size and style of the insignia suggests this was applied in service as opposed to the many helmets that were painted with larger, bright unit insignia on return to the US.
As part of the 26th Division the 104th Infantry Regt. took part in six major campaigns: Chemin Des Dames, Apremont, Campagne-Marne, Aisne Marne, St. Mihiel, and Meuse-Argonne".
