William IV and Victoria Army Commissions.
Impressive clean Commission with large clear hand Signature of WilliamIV at top left stating that Henry Evatt be appointed to be Colonel Commandant in the Royal Engineers. Black printing with manuscript annotations, signatures and seal or vellum, size 15½" × 11¾". Plus another signed by Queen Victoria appointing him Major General of the Royal Engineers in July of 1838. Henry Evatt became Lieut. General in the Royal Engineers having previously served under Wellington in the Peninsula campaign. He died at the age of 83, with a memorial in St Marys Church, Fordwich, Canterbury.
