Hood, Camo, Gas Protective, Canadian, 1942.
Made in Canada for all British Forces during WWII, these waterproofed cotton head and shoulder covers in a camouflage pattern were designed to be worn under the standard steel helmet. Intended for protection against gas , they also provided great rain and camouflage protection. The gas cover was made of a thin rubberised material, in this case by Kaufmann Rubber Co.Ltd in 1942. Still supple and slightly sticky from it's linseed oil coating. Good condition with two small tears.
