British A.C.Delay Mk I.

Scarce British Mk1 A.C. Delay for use with the Limpet mine. This version differs from the MkIA in having a smaller diameter body which accepts smaller acetone ampoules.This version was replaced by the MkIA but operated in exactly the same fashion.Acetone ampoules containing differing strengths of acetone were inserted into the A.C. Delay and crushed, eating through a celluloid washer which retained a striker. The differing rates of dissolving the celluloid washer dictated the length of delay, an orange ampoule for instance, giving a 7.5hr delay. Release of the striker intiated the Limpet.
This version is in excellent condition, retaining approx 80% of it's original grey paint and some stamped markings. Retains spring, striker and end cap. Strippable.
