WWII Italian Brixia 45mm Mortar Round.
WWII Italian mortar round for use in the 45mm Brixia infantry mortar. The 45mm calibre mortar was a smooth-bore, breech-loading, trigger-operated weapon, normally operated by a crew of two. The bomb was hand-loaded, and propelled by a cartridge from a chamber located on top of the receiver and could be fired out to 500m at a rate of fire of 18 rounds a minute.
This example complete and disassembles with 65% of the original paint to the tail fins. One of the fins has an overpainted manufacturer's mark which although difficult to decipher would indicate manufacture by SRCM - Società Romana Costruzioni Meccaniche. Residual red ring to nose.
