1918 Trench Map - Somme - Tunnelling Coy. RE.

WW1 British trench map Sheet 57D S.E. showing the Somme front running along the Ancre and centred on Authuille and Thiepval. Trenches are corrected to May 1918, a number which are named. This map was previously the property of Capt.P.C.Clayton of 253 ( Tunnelling ) Coy. RE. whose name and details are pencilled to the reverse of the map. Clayton joined the Manchester Regt. initially and was Mentioned in Dispatches during his service in Gallipoli. He joined 253 Coy RE in 1916 and served with them until the conclusion of the War.
