WW1 Caton Woodville Cigarette Box.
Silver plated cigarette box mounted on claw feet featuring a WW1 scene by the artist R.Caton Woodville in relief to the lid. The sides have plaques of the Allied leaders surrounded by flags and honours framed by wreaths, again all in relief. to the top of the panel of the lid is a patriotic line ' Who stands if Freedom Fall ? Who Dies if England Live ? ' taken from Kipling's 1914 poem ' For All We Have And Are '. Originally plated all over, decades of care have revealed the copper base leaving a patinated silver finish to the low points of the panels. Attractive item.
