US Model 1873 Socket Bayonet for the Springfield Rifle.

A good example of the US Model 1873 Socket Bayonet for the Springfield Trapdoor Rifle. Contained in it's steel scabbard with unique brass and leather, swivelling belt hook. It has a 46cm tri-form blade which retains 95% of it's original bluing and is stamped ‘U.S’ (Army) above letter ‘S’ inspection mark. The socket complete with locking ring and scabbard show signs of wear with marking and some very light pitting, otherwise good condition ( see photos )
