WW2 RAF ' Hopkinson ' Release Knife.

Carried by fire and crash crew these knives were designed specifically for cutting through harness and parachute shrouds whilst affording protection, by means of the rounded ends, to trapped aircrew. Made by may of the Sheffield knife producers this example, whilst unmarked, was probably produced by Jospeth Rodgers. Similar knives are still used today. In good, used condition with some rubbing to sheath.
