Markings in script on the spine. "Mre Impale de St Etienne Aout 1867" (Manufactured in the Imperial Armory of St. Etienne in August 1867) Solid brass hilt, release spring present and works. A very good scabbard with light surface rust in a few places but most of the original blued metal finish present. Issue numbers on the scabbard and hilt are matching, so this has been together for ever. Blade is very bright and clean with no damage or nicks.GOOD example
