THIRD REICH CASED IRON CROSS 1ST. CLASS. L/52.

(This is part of a collection of souvenirs bought back by a soldier in the Parachute Regiment. All 100% original and never been in collections.) A totally untouched cross that has been left on the issue case since the war. Silver frosting is present but has patina. The iron centre has 100% of the black paint, but there is evidence of a little surface exposure. The reverse has most of the silver frosting. The thin square pin is perfect and is marked underneath near the hinge with the L/52 stamp. This is the maker code for C.F. Zimmermann of Pforzheim. The black cardboard/fibre case is in excellent shape. Small scuff to one outside corner. Outline of cross in silver on the lid. Interior rayon silk is fine, some slight staining to the cream flock around the cross, commensurate with the age and condition of the cross. Totally untouched.
