Aluminium WW1 identity disc named to ' 7838 H.Watling BOR.R. ' Herbert Watling, who was married and lived in Edmonton was killed with ' C ' Company of the 2nd Battalion Border Regt on their attack on German trenches near Festubert where casualties were heavy with over 100 killed, 240 wounded, and 35 missing. A poignant keepsake that was possibly returned to his family by his unit, he is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial. Accompanied by a small amount of research, his MIC indicates he was entitled to a 1914 Star trio.
