Established as part of the deception plan for Operation Husky, XIV Corps was part of the equally fictitious 12th Army. This formation sign was created and worn at a local level by various minor formations in an attempt to maintain the deception of larger formations held in reserve or strategically placed. According to Mills ( Badges on Battledress 2541 ) this badge was also recorded as worn by Staff of the Mountain Warfare School at Suprino, Italy. Locally made example in good, used condition with evidence of having been removed from a uniform. Uncommon.
