‘STANDSCHUETZEN’ AUSTRIAN NAZI SHOOTING ASSOCIATION BADGE.
Standschuetzen were the traditional shooting guilds/clubs that existed in Austria, and apparently towards the end of WWII their members were formed into home defence units rather like the Volkssturm. Each battalion would have had a badge to show the region it came from [hence Innsbruck] This is quite a large enamel diamond shaped badge with a solid screw back fixing. Has the Austrian Third Reich eagle in the middle with Standschuetzen Batallion Innsbruck underneath. Red and black enamels. Reverse has screw back fitting with a disc marked Berlin 1938 and numbered 00831. Interesting and unusual badge.
