JAPANESE WWII NCO's KATANA SWORD.

A very good, untouched example of the Katana NCO's sword as carried by Non commissioned officers in the Imperial Japanese army. The NCO swords were introduced on September 16, 1935.The hilts are made of cast aluminium instead of the wood and cloth of the Officers types. Were machine made but hand assembled. Hilt is complete and in good condition. The arsenal control marks are clear and visible on the The details were painted onto the surfaces to make them look like linen strapping a wood grips etc. About 50% of the paint is still present. Blade locking mechanism works perfectly. The steel scabbard has again 50-60% of the original brown/green paint still present. The scabbard throat is numbered 27716 and the matching number is on the blade sideways above the blood groove. The blade itself is in near mint condition, has never been used for post-war 'fighting' or hacking down the garden! Retains all the original bright polish and a perfect honed edge. There are a couple of old 'finger smudges' in middle of the blade, but would clean off. A very good example of a Japanese sword WW2 souvenir.
