WW2 Japanese 1000 Stitch Senninbari.

Unusual double sided, lined Senninbari. The piece of material containing the 1000 stitches has been enclosed by a cotton envelope which forms the body of the belt and to which the ties are attached. Unusually both sides of the belt are covered with characters, which are probably exhortations for good luck and brave conduct. To one side there appears to be a name or location written in a different hand to the rest of the characters. Good overall condition but with clear evidence of wear with light staining and foxing. One image shows the belt held up to the light to reveal the stitches inside the belt.
