2nd Patt F.S.Knife ' Fat Man ' Variation.

An example of the so called ' Fat Man ' variation of the 2nd Pattern F.S. Fighting knife. This variant is distinguished by it's wider handle cross section and has been tentatively linked to the firm of J.Clarke & Son. This example features a blackened grip with a broad arrow 2 inspection mark and wear to highpoints. Originally blackened all over, the blade is now bright and shows signs of both sharpening and cleaning but retains both it's length and point. Contained in an early 2nd patt. scabbard featuring nickel chape which has owner's details ' Taff ' scratched into it's surface, a name repeated to the reverse of the scabbard. The scabbard is in good, well used condition with seperation of the elastic retainer. A good, used example of a scarce variant.
