US Smatchet.

US manufactured version of the Smatchet, a fearsome weapon that was recommended as much for it's psychological effect as it's sturdy construction. Produced both in Britain and the US and issued to special forces, SOE and OSS alike. The US versions are distinct from British productions by their squared wooden grips, the use of two cutler's rivets to secure the pommel and the two rivets to the grips. Contained in the distinctive wood and leather covered scabbard. This example in good, used condition with a slightly altered blade profile at the point and a missing snap fastener to the scabbard retainer. Light rubbing to profile and highpoints of scabbard.
