WW2 Japanese 50mm Model 89 ' Knee ' Mortar.

The Type 89 Grenade Discharger , inaccurately and colloquially known as a ' knee mortar ' by Allied forces, was a Japanese grenade launcher or light mortar that was widely used in the Pacific Ocean theatre of World War II.This projectile is an example of the Type 89 50mm HE (high explosive) mortar shell and is fitted with an impact fuze. Fuze is complete and still retains it's original lacquer coating and has various markings. Projectile dis-assembles and has been subject to an old, but accurate repaint.
