M15 Prussian Artillery Picklehaube.

An above average example of an M15 O/R's picklehaube for a soldier of the Prussian Artillery. High polished leather body with zinc plated steel fittings and removable ball top, all fittings displaying a high degree of undamaged plating. Retains chinstrap and two cockades, however, it would appear that at some point it has lost the Prussian State cockade and had another Reich cockade substituted. The interior is very clean but has lost the drawstring that adjusts the headband, two of the drawstring holes to the tongues have been pulled through. Manufactured marked and sized ( 60 ), with clothing depot stamps and date to rear peak ( B.A.XII.18 ). The helmet is named twice to the same man, once in pencil to the rear peak and also impressed lightly to the interior of the body . A second Kanonier's details are also present to the interior with a message ' Ein Greif 5.Batt ' pencilled to the peak. The Prussian plate has been attached by cutting slots through the body either side of the purpose made holes and secured with leather off cuts and clearly has been like this from issue. An excellent example.
