Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf POW Photograph Grouping.

A large number of photographs ( 50+ ) pertaining to Sgt.R.G.Peat, POW No.9625 of Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf. Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf was a large, German prisoner of war camp, later renumbered Stalag 344. It was located near the small town of Lamsdorf (now called Lambinowice, in Poland) in what was then known as Upper Silesia. 100,000 Allied POWs passed through the camp during the war and It is believed Peat was one of the 1000 or more RAF NCOs transferred from Sagan in 1943 although this has to be confirmed.
16 of the studies appear to have been taken in the camp and the other views are of home and family, they all bear a Stalag VIIIB stamp or a ' gepruft ' stamp to the reverse indicating that they have been inspected by the camp authorities. Good, clean condition and a grouping that would reward further research.
