PRINCESS MARY GIFT TIN-PROFESSIONALLY ENGRAVED FOR OFFICER RNVR.

This is the standard Princess Mary gift tin in pressed brass. Unfortunately the body of the tin has suffered a little, but is still complete. What makes this tin quite so unique is that it has been professionally engraved on the inside of the lid to a 'Lieut. Commander Wallace Aldridge Watson RNVR'. It's slightly obscured by the age Verdigris and patina that's over the top, but could be cleaned off to reveal it completely. I have completed a little research on him and he served on a shore based ship the 'Pembroke' and was in the Anti Aircraft Corps in Chatham in 1914. I am sure there is more that can be found about this officer. Rare to find a personalised, researchable tin, with a high ranking officer.
