Korea Medal Group - Imjin interest.

Group of three, GSM GeoVI bar Malaya, Korea and UN medal bar Korea to 22264646 Gnr.E.Gibson R.A.. Gibson was a member of 170 Independent Mortar Battery RA ( confirmed by copy nominal roll ). Three troops of 170th Indp Mor Batt provided fire support with 4.2inch mortars for the Belgian Battalion, RUR and Glosters in the crucial Battle of the Imjin River which allowed the UN forces in Korea to withdraw to a defensive line south of the river and stabilise the front against the overwhelming Chinese attacks aimed at Seoul. A and B Troops of the Battery were able to escape but C Troop joined the Glosters in captivity.
Group mounted for display in good, fine condition with very minor contact marks and edge knocks. Accompanied by an early small anodised RA badge and a Presidential Unit citation badge. The citation was awarded to all members of 170 Indp. Mor Batt. but permission was only given to C Troop to wear the distinction. With copy of 170 Indp. Mor. Batt nominal roll and some research.
