Grenade Practice, No.23 with Gibbons Patent Mechanism.

A good example of a ' Grenade Practice, No.23 with Gibbons Patent Mechanism, Dummy ', this was a standard No.23 grenade body with a small spring clip to retain the lever to allow for realistic handling and throwing practice. Supplied to the Ministry of Munitions in 1916 and 1917 by the Practice Projectile Company, a firm set up by Gibbons for the supply of this grenade. The body is empty with no centre piece or internal mechanism and is zinc coated which is typical. Good overall condition with areas of very minor corrosion.
