WW1 1917 Pattern British Army Trench Cap - Essex Regt.

A very good, typical example of the pattern of woollen cap worn by the British Army during the Great War. Complete with GS brass buttons and correct thin brown leather chinstrap and Essex Regt. bi-metal badge The interior with full oilcloth lining with faint evidence of WD and inspection marks but no date. Blanket material headband shows evidence of wear . Moth free with some what appear to be wax splashes to body, hidden by the fall of the cap.nips to the peak. To one side a French patriotic tinny badge with a motto that loosely translates ' the hopes and best wishes of France '. Excellent, clean condition acquired from a deceased estate.
