WW2 Leuchtpistole 42 Signal Pistol.
In an attempt to make a simplified replacement for the Heeresmodell signal pistol the Leuchtpistole 42 was designed. Largely made from substantial and crude pressings the LP.42 featured a single tipping, smoothbore barrel accepting the standard 27mm cartridge locked by a cross bolt through the substantial frame. There was no safety. This example was made by HASAG - Hugo Schneider AG, Leipzig signified by the ' wa ' coding to the frame and was a recently discovered ' bring back ' that was deactivated. Originally finished in a galvanised type of treatment this has largely worn away but otherwise in a good, used condition with clear manufacturer's marking, serial number and inspection marks. Fully functioning albeit with a light trigger ! Uncommon.
